hey hey... ben's officially together with cherie. the date awas 26/09/06 haha okay here are the details for you ppl... first n foremost, ya'll can go to www.sleepless-in-seattle.blogspot.com to check out the whole thing from my gd friend's cum neighbor's perspective...

it's been a hectic few weeks... planning... meeting up ppl... sorting out various issues... the date had been set on tuesday evening... 2 wks ago i still wasn't sure where to ask. as the day drew nearer the ideas began to fall into place.

was always planning to have it in hall, and involve my friends, or our friends since over the past month she's gotten to know a good bunch of my hall friends. my good friend n neighbor was the cheif butler/waiter, he helped in getting even more ppl involved and sourcing out the chef. the chef, this guy from mauritius had been workin at a posh restaurant in glouchester park so we talked abt the menu, and settled on a 4 course dinner. then i got my a capella friends, my cousin, grace, mel foo and kendrick my neighbor to prepare a few songs for me. they had met cherie at my birthday party earler in the yr, so the aca ppl were madly excited for me, and customised and changed the lyrics to "i can't help fallin in love with you", and "cuando cuando cuando" for the both of us. another girl, anuja helped in writing a poem which the aca bunch read out to us, and got me to read the last line, will post it up later... =P

initially wanted to have it at the rooftop, but thought it'd be too open and it might rain... so decided on my room. i arranged and tidied up my super messy room, moved my matress into my friend's room, and made a makeshift dining table on my bedframe in hall, and set up an elevated walkway, decorated the room with christmas lights and clip on spotlights... my mom lent me her painting which i hung on my room as well. all that was 2 days before. actually even till the last day i was buying lights and rearranging. then over the weekend, told my parents and my mom helped me get the nice plates and utensils and all i needed based on what my chef was cooking... set up the dining table with table cloth, used a quilt cover to cover up my messy shelves.

went shopping with the chef for all the ingredients... we went hunting for big prawns... couldn't find in sheng siong so went cold storage and found "Angka prawns" huge... as big as my hand. got wine, a red and a dessert white. bought chairs from ikea for us to sit on... chose songs to play on my computer in my room.

now we'd been giving tuition together, and had alr went out on a movie on monday night, tuesday i got the car (bargaining power with parents really increased after they knew i was gonna ask alr. haha) so we had tuition on tuesday, finished and i dropped her back at her place at six cos she had to help her friend with makeup and hair for an event, and i told her to dress up as well. i then went back to hall, did the last min setting up of various lights... and briefed the helpers... then left to pick her up at 715 with a large bouquet of flowers... reached her place at 730, and she wasn't ready, so i waited in her house till abt 8ish as she did her makeup, chose her clothes and did her hair. as she was doing her makeup, i gasped and she heard and asked "why? forgot something?" and i was like... "yeah... your present in hall... later must go back and take..." cos she still didn't know where we were going... i kept saying it was a secret.

:P so we went back, and i dropped a few decoy hints such as "hope you like the place later... it's got a very unique atmosphere.." and she was asking abt the reservation cos i mentioned it too, and i said i pushed it back... called the guy while she was still changing. i msged my chief butler (qingyou) down to help me open door cos i lost my matric card, and i parked the car and told her that this present need to go up and see... qy was down dressed in a nice shirt n jeans and nice shoes and opened the door for her, and she was like "what's gg on?!" haha... so we went up in the lift, and when the lift opened at my floor, the other waiter darren and kendrick my singer were standing there very well dressed to greet us with a loud, "welcome to the sneaky wing!!!" as we walked towards my room, the bunch of em were following behind, and she was really confused as to what was going on, she thought i had made something that couldn't be moved so must show in the room.

then i showed her to room, and as she turned in to look, i said, "we'll be having dinner here." following that... the first 30 mins of dinner she was still in shock and awe... really a sight to behold. and she was saying i had been droppin hints all over the place, but she was not prying, and controlling herself from wanting to find out more, and she had been thinkin thru abt all the different possible things i could plan, but this was something she never expected. so i asked the qn, and she threw a few questions back, which some i could answer... some were... confusing haha... and in the end she said that in the past, she had been thinking of all the ways a guy could ask the qn, how it could be in public, with loads of pressure, it could just between the guy and the girl, or it could be in the heat of some romantic moment, just by the way thing, but her ideal would have been one where it was private, just the guy and girl, yet friends and family involved, and it happened the perfect way.

she also shared abt a mth back, that God told her, "wait and watch" as she was praying abt us, and it was cos she still was unsure cos some things with me had yet to match her list of uncompromisable requirements, and as the weeks passed, more and more of it was coming to pass, and in the last week, one by one, the rest of the concerns were all was addressed without me even being conscious, like how i felt we needed to pray more together and for each other, and when she asked what's God been speaking to me about, i shared that, and she was quite shocked cos it was on her heart as well, but she didn't want to say it outright, and wouldn't say the other things that have yet to fall into place cos God told her to "wait and watch". it's really cool how God moves. He's doing a great job at cueing me in on which way to go.

Hello ALL you cellies!

Hope you all are fine and dandy wherever u are! (i.e busy prepping for next week's mid terms or papers, or busy working in the comp centre, st lukes or even if u're just holidaying somewhere in thailand... :P) Anyway i do apologise for sending this pretty late... O btw it's goin to be a long rambling post so yea.. do bear with me! :P

Well first things first, i would like to thank God for a long list of things that is long overdue... well to start things off, i would like to thank God for my friend trixie's salvation! She got saved last weekend on sat and will be joining the engine cell next week! (She's more comfortable with the ppl there thats why..) Secondly, i would like to thank God for seeing me through this past 3 months which has been a truly rough patch. (which explains why my nick looks like the weather forecast christy...) I would also like to thank God for moulding my chac and sustaining me and even bringing in different ones to support and prop me up when i thought that i could go no further... So this post goes out as a tribute to each one of them and you guys in cell whom have really been in a way a form of passive support for me and of course my heavenly Daddy who knows all things in the rite time...

Rewind a couple of months back to july 17 when i returned from my fieldtrip to thailand and malaysia. I had to accomplish 6 papers in 5 days! it's for the simple reason for having multiple lecturers and unreasonable ones at that, so yea... Anyway somehow through all the burning of the midnite oil, i finally accomplish all the essays not by sat but by mon and ironically there was a sting waiting for us at the very end of it. One of my lecturers, whom i shall not name, who supposedly extended our deadlines at the last moment told us that the deadline was at 12 noon and not at midnite which we all initially agreed upon, but by that time, we fig that out it was too late to really do much abt it. I suppose whilst it may seem as a trivial matter but to me personally it seemed a particularly bitter blow since after everything i learnt that skipping lectures would have been more profitable since class attendance was not exactly impt and more importantly i could have spent time doin my own research rather cutting my lunchtime to do research. Yet nothing else could be done so i left it as it was... By the time i was done with the 6 papers, my brain was fried and the only thing u want to do is just sponge off...

Next up, W2 family day! well it took a fair bit of time and physical energy to get the props up and more imptly it took time to prepare all the stuff for the actual day, not the easiest of stuff, but im thankful for each n every single one who contributed in one way or another... which is basically you guys! the whole cell! and for basically for our efforts,we were rewarded with the most visited booth award! so kudos to you guys. Yet somehow, through the euphoria, now i was mentally drained and physically tired...

Next up, the prep for the the wonderful NUS rag and flag day! yet another physically draining week as i prepped all the necessary administrative matters for my hall... I suppose after all i couldn't complain since i volunteered for it and no matter what was said and ho badly it turned out, i am utterly convinced that i did whatever i could and nothing more could have been done that was not done under the circumstances that i was in. Yet, despite saying that, when the final result was announced, it left a bitter aftertaste in mouth, cos for one, alot of ppl in hall were banking hard on me and my team to come up with some great unrealistic magical feat, which of course at the end of the day fell short and whilst the team took the flak i strongly believe that my team supported my every decision and for that im glad...

I suppose the next up was possibly the hardest pill to swallow of all. Some of you may know that my grand dad was battling cancer way back in 2005 and he passed on just the day before flag day. It was not unexpected, but just tough to stomach, especially at that point of time. Furthermore, the division and the family politics that arose from the whole issue, left my family especially my mom somewhat disillusioned with Christianity, yet through it all, God has seen my family through and im forever grateful for ppl who have come alongside to pray and be with my family during this time...

I suppose through it all, somehow i never broke down, cos God was really there for me, through the tears and fears, through the agony and misery, through the tiredness and bitterness... I learnt some of the most fundamental lessons through this rough season. How and what it meant to be a true christian, even when others bite you in the back... Through the roughest seasons, why God allowed things to happen... Learning to hold on to my destiny and future even when it means releasing the present to the Lord...

Indeed, i suppose at the end of the storm, as they always say lies the sun's glory and i have much to thank God for. In addition to the above list of things, i'll add the baptism of my grandma whom my family and my auntie have been praying for, for the longest while now. I guess i could also add the fact that God has granted me favor in my hall as well. I believe that trixie's salvation came at a time when i believe that God put me in King Edward VII for a reason.. Also ive been able to free up time from hall activities to spend with dear precious ones like family, loved ones, cell, even friends and of course my heavenly Daddy! Because ive come to understand that relationships matter more than work and it's certainly more than just i, me and myself... Thus a finished portion of my destiny. Answered prayers with many more to come...

Lastly, i suppose i'll end with this inspirational poem pasted on my wall.

Hey ppl...

Here's the serving schedule for cell for the coming month, we'll update you guys more as the next month draws near...

Also another piece of information is that we'll be having a cell outing durin the semester break. The confirmed date will be on the 27 sept (tues), we're lookin at the late afternoon til the evening... It'll be a time of catching up with each other and of course our beloved ZP, Ps Edwin!!

Hey cellies!!!

Here's a short and very very very late notice on tml's big clean up of shan's place, which probably means sweeping, mopping, cleaning of toilets and washing... though i heard painting is not included... heh heh...

We're goin to be meetin tml at redhill mrt at 1.45pm and we WILL be done by 5.45pm, cos our dear host has to rush off somewhere after that. BTW our dearest host has also volunteered to buy us lunch for those who will go tml. So far, ive only got 4 names, but yea anyone who wants to go can still sms me later ya?

Things to bring incl:
- yourself in comfy clothes!
- rags, pref old ones
- any other things that you might want to use and think shan wont have. Alcohol, turpertine, etc...

For those who do not know how to get... dont fret cos we're meeting redhill mrt @ 1.45PM. Also one specific landmark of her place is the 7-11! if u get lost, just ask ard for that and u'll be certain to find her place soon enough... :P
