hey hey... ben's officially together with cherie. the date awas 26/09/06 haha okay here are the details for you ppl... first n foremost, ya'll can go to www.sleepless-in-seattle.blogspot.com to check out the whole thing from my gd friend's cum neighbor's perspective...
it's been a hectic few weeks... planning... meeting up ppl... sorting out various issues... the date had been set on tuesday evening... 2 wks ago i still wasn't sure where to ask. as the day drew nearer the ideas began to fall into place.
was always planning to have it in hall, and involve my friends, or our friends since over the past month she's gotten to know a good bunch of my hall friends. my good friend n neighbor was the cheif butler/waiter, he helped in getting even more ppl involved and sourcing out the chef. the chef, this guy from mauritius had been workin at a posh restaurant in glouchester park so we talked abt the menu, and settled on a 4 course dinner. then i got my a capella friends, my cousin, grace, mel foo and kendrick my neighbor to prepare a few songs for me. they had met cherie at my birthday party earler in the yr, so the aca ppl were madly excited for me, and customised and changed the lyrics to "i can't help fallin in love with you", and "cuando cuando cuando" for the both of us. another girl, anuja helped in writing a poem which the aca bunch read out to us, and got me to read the last line, will post it up later... =P
initially wanted to have it at the rooftop, but thought it'd be too open and it might rain... so decided on my room. i arranged and tidied up my super messy room, moved my matress into my friend's room, and made a makeshift dining table on my bedframe in hall, and set up an elevated walkway, decorated the room with christmas lights and clip on spotlights... my mom lent me her painting which i hung on my room as well. all that was 2 days before. actually even till the last day i was buying lights and rearranging. then over the weekend, told my parents and my mom helped me get the nice plates and utensils and all i needed based on what my chef was cooking... set up the dining table with table cloth, used a quilt cover to cover up my messy shelves.
went shopping with the chef for all the ingredients... we went hunting for big prawns... couldn't find in sheng siong so went cold storage and found "Angka prawns" huge... as big as my hand. got wine, a red and a dessert white. bought chairs from ikea for us to sit on... chose songs to play on my computer in my room.
now we'd been giving tuition together, and had alr went out on a movie on monday night, tuesday i got the car (bargaining power with parents really increased after they knew i was gonna ask alr. haha) so we had tuition on tuesday, finished and i dropped her back at her place at six cos she had to help her friend with makeup and hair for an event, and i told her to dress up as well. i then went back to hall, did the last min setting up of various lights... and briefed the helpers... then left to pick her up at 715 with a large bouquet of flowers... reached her place at 730, and she wasn't ready, so i waited in her house till abt 8ish as she did her makeup, chose her clothes and did her hair. as she was doing her makeup, i gasped and she heard and asked "why? forgot something?" and i was like... "yeah... your present in hall... later must go back and take..." cos she still didn't know where we were going... i kept saying it was a secret.
:P so we went back, and i dropped a few decoy hints such as "hope you like the place later... it's got a very unique atmosphere.." and she was asking abt the reservation cos i mentioned it too, and i said i pushed it back... called the guy while she was still changing. i msged my chief butler (qingyou) down to help me open door cos i lost my matric card, and i parked the car and told her that this present need to go up and see... qy was down dressed in a nice shirt n jeans and nice shoes and opened the door for her, and she was like "what's gg on?!" haha... so we went up in the lift, and when the lift opened at my floor, the other waiter darren and kendrick my singer were standing there very well dressed to greet us with a loud, "welcome to the sneaky wing!!!" as we walked towards my room, the bunch of em were following behind, and she was really confused as to what was going on, she thought i had made something that couldn't be moved so must show in the room.
then i showed her to room, and as she turned in to look, i said, "we'll be having dinner here." following that... the first 30 mins of dinner she was still in shock and awe... really a sight to behold. and she was saying i had been droppin hints all over the place, but she was not prying, and controlling herself from wanting to find out more, and she had been thinkin thru abt all the different possible things i could plan, but this was something she never expected. so i asked the qn, and she threw a few questions back, which some i could answer... some were... confusing haha... and in the end she said that in the past, she had been thinking of all the ways a guy could ask the qn, how it could be in public, with loads of pressure, it could just between the guy and the girl, or it could be in the heat of some romantic moment, just by the way thing, but her ideal would have been one where it was private, just the guy and girl, yet friends and family involved, and it happened the perfect way.
she also shared abt a mth back, that God told her, "wait and watch" as she was praying abt us, and it was cos she still was unsure cos some things with me had yet to match her list of uncompromisable requirements, and as the weeks passed, more and more of it was coming to pass, and in the last week, one by one, the rest of the concerns were all was addressed without me even being conscious, like how i felt we needed to pray more together and for each other, and when she asked what's God been speaking to me about, i shared that, and she was quite shocked cos it was on her heart as well, but she didn't want to say it outright, and wouldn't say the other things that have yet to fall into place cos God told her to "wait and watch". it's really cool how God moves. He's doing a great job at cueing me in on which way to go.
