Dearest all...
Hope all your exams have been progressing along fine! Anyway just a testimony from me over here. It's rdg my marathon which i ran on sun :D
Yes, you heard it right, i ran a full marathon! it's 42.195km for the uninformed... :P Anyway just want to thank God for sustaining me throughout the run and more importantly giving me the perfect weather to run. It was a gd way for me to end this yr and truly i believe that God has taught me many things through this looooooong run...
Maybe i'll just share it with you all...
I believe that our Christian walk is just like a marathon, it's more than just the destination that matters. The journey counts too! Running the full marathon was an experience that i cannot fully express in words but rest assured that through the journey it brings out the character in each one of us. Our flaws, our perseverance, our strengths and even our spirit can get tested!
Another value that i learnt through the marathon that i felt applied to my own walk with Christ is the attitude of never giving up. To be honest with you guys, i could not fully prepare for this race simply due to the commitments. Exams finished on wed and thus i barely had 3 days to prepare for this event. Those 3 days were hard exhausting training, but i knew that i could not give up the training. During the actual race itself, it was tough, especially in the 3rd quarter, after the 32km mark. It was pure agony to even jog, yet i had my sight on one thing. Finish this race! Finish this race! I suppose each and every single of one during our walks with Christ would attest to having faced difficult seasons, and i guess the exams are a perfect example! Still, nonetheless, we have to learn how to hold on and persevere to push our faith to a new level in God.
Yet another lesson that ive come to learn through the race is that our dearest heavenly father hears our every silent prayer, wishes and is our constant companion. I remember as i started the race, i told God, "Dear God, i'm not sure how far i can go, maybe 21? but i believe that you'll meet me at the 21 km mark and You'll carry me through to the 42km mark." And indeed He was true to His word. I could not have had better weather. It was cool and clear the whole time during my run and He even held the rain for me til i crossed the finish line which was really a blessing from Him! I suppose it came all the more sweeter that God would believe in me even when others didnt think it was possible of me to finish the race. I guess life is such as well, we can only depend on man for so much, but certainly with God, there is so much more that we can rely on. Therefore i implore each one of you to learn to depend on our constant companion, the Holy Spirit!
Well, think ive said enough about my run. :D To God be the glory and to all those who still have exams, hang on and persevere! You're not far from the victory lap! :D
Hoping to see you all soon
Ivan
